The Witzenberg Valley

The Witzenberg Valley is a  mere 90 minute drive from Cape town and situated in the heart of the Cape winelands. 60 minutes from Stellenbosch and part of the Route 62, the valley is the ideal stop over between the cape coasts or a great alternative drive to the N1 highway. Explore the road less travelled, we guarantee you will be enchanted!

The picturesque and majestic valley is home to the towns of Ceres, Tulbagh, Wolseley, Prince Alfred Hamlet and Op-die-Berg.

Easily accessible to many local towns, villages and scenic routes. The Witzenberg valley is famous for his award-winning wines, export fruit production and more recently olive production. Majestic mountains surround the valley, with the Great Winterhoek towering at over 2077m above sea level! The mountain peaks are frequently snow-capped in winter.

The museums, block houses and historic Church street (with a record number of National Monuments) offer fascinating insights into the rich history of this area.

The valley is also famous for its diverse flora, including several endangered vegetation types. Spring in the Witzenberg Valley is not to be missed with its multitude of flowers and blossoming fruit trees. Tulbagh hosts an annual Spring Horse and Flower Show to display some of the areas diverse flora.
