Horse About Terms and Conditions

  • For the safety of our guests & welfare of our horses, we have a safety weight restriction. Whilst our maximum weight limit is 85 kgs on the Scenic Trail and 80 kgs on the Witzenberg Trail, height/weight ratios are considered. We can accommodate a max BMI of 28 on the Scenic Trail and 25 on the Witzenberg Trail. Should we feel we have been incorrectly advised, we may ask that guests are weighed on the day of the ride. If a guest exceeds the weight provided, we reserve the right to cancel the booking.  All monies will be forfeited. To assist us with horse allocation, please ensure you provide accurate details at the time of booking.
  • Payment – a 50% deposit is required to confirm your booking, the balance can be paid via EFT prior to the day, or cash on arrival, we do not have credit card facilities.
  • Last minute bookings - if you are unable to pay a deposit, please note that should you cancel or not arrive, you will be legally bound to pay the full price as per our T&C's.
  • Please note that should any confirmed rider decide at the last minute not to ride, the full charge still applies. This applies if children are afraid and don’t want to ride, we recommend you discuss any concerns before hand with us.
  • Cancellations within 12 hours or less and no-shows will be liable for 100% of the quoted costs.
  • Refunds should Horse About need to cancel due to weather conditions, we will give a full refund or book for another convenient date. NB we usually only cancel in the event of extreme weather conditions, we often ride in the rain or mist. 
    • Cancellations on group rides up to 48 hours before the ride, full refund of monies paid, less admin fee of R50
    • Cancellations less than 48 hours before the ride:- part or full refund (less R50 admin fee) will be given if we are able to resell seats, should we not be able to resell the seats, no refund will be given.
    • Private rides up to 7 days before the trail date - full refund of monies paid, less R50 admin fee
    • Private rides less than 7 days before date, refund or part thereof, less R50 admin fee, will be given IF we can resell the seats, in the event we cannot resell the seats no refund will be given.
    • The same terms apply for riders who request to postpone for another date - if arranged well ahead of time, we can usually accommodate your request, last minute requests will be subject to availability and if we can fill your seats.
  • Helmets are available & compulsory for all participants and included in the price.
  • All our trails are weather dependent, although we usually only cancel due to pouring rain or strong winds. Final times and confirmation will be sent 3-4 days prior to the ride.
  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your ride to allow for introductions and paperwork.
  • All riders are required to sign an indemnity form on arrival
