Discover the diverse birdlife on de Heuvel

de Heuvel itself offers a diverse range of vegetation including mountain fynbos, renosterveld mixed forests with alien and indigenous trees.
Throughout the farm there are wonderful, wild areas where you will find an abundance of different bird-life, plant species and a range of flowers for each season. There are 3 dams and a several farm roads and walking trails traversing the farm.
Conveniently located on the R46 between Tulbagh and Wolseley, accommodation is available on nearby farms and during the summer months campers can book the delightful tipi campsite, a popular birding spot!

Raptor viewing

Jackal Buzzards are regularly seen with resident breeding pairs in the valley. The neighbouring Fable Mountain Vineyards has raptor perches in the vineyards, allowing excellent opportunities to observe these and other raptors.
Blue cranes mating dance
Blue cranes are usually fairly relaxed and they frequently dazzle visitors with their dancing displays. Look out for breeding pairs on several farms in the Witzenberg Area.
